90 day guarentee is a LIE

Updated by user Nov 11, 2013

This was purchased from Today's Bed in MN. Not SECU MD

Original review Nov 11, 2013
We purchased a mattress at the Burnsville store location. Unfortunately, the product has not met our expectations. When originally visiting the store we were told about their 90 day guarantee. We made it very clear that we would likely be purchasing a Tempurpedic mattress but were open to trying other options. At this point we were guaranteed that if we did not like the mattress we would be purchasing we would be able to return it and "only be out the $60 for the mattress pad." Again at time of check out prior to signing for the bed I reconfirmed the salesman’s statement with him regarding the comfort guarantee. He restated that the only thing that we are risking is our $60 for the mattress pad as they are not returnable and that the bed could be returned with-in the first 90 days if we did not like it.The companies 90 day comfort guarantee was not disclosed clearly and was misrepresented by the salesman. We have attempted to resolve this problem by allowing the Today’s Bed sales associate to test the bed in our home. Having to allow someone in to our home and watch him flop around in our bed for an extended period of time only made us more uncomfortable with him and his behavior. Prior to leaving our home he told us that you "The Owner" would be reaching out to us directly. Again this statement was inaccurate and did not happen. After we contacted the owner he responded with extremely rude emails and essentially told us that we were getting nothing back. To resolve the problem, we requested that we be allowed to return the bed as promised by the sales associate and a full refund for the purchase of the bed. We will be happy to pay the delivery of the now used mattress. We tried every mattress they carry and do not like any of them. We are extremely uncomfortable. They sales associate admitted it was one of his 1st weeks on the job. He clearly just wanted to sell the bed.

Very Bad expirience.. will never think of this poor bank

very bad service.. Have to wait 2 hours to catch an executive on the phone. Be seeing you SECU!

My husband and I made a large check deposit ($5000.00) through the ATM. According to the bank personnel, we should have looked at our manual of bank procedures after 4 years and then we would have known that our funds would be held a certain amount of days.

The deposit went in on Thursday and we use bill pay. Because funds were frozen we incurred 6-yes I said 6, $30.00 NSF fees because bill pay still works on the weekend, but obviously our money takes the weekend off. I have a business checking and saving account, a personal checking and saving account, and my husband and I have a joint checking and saving account. There is much more to the story, but suffice it to say, the staff did not help and as the email from the CEO, Mr.

Staatz wanting people to spread the word about SECU being such a great bank option...HUH! You must bank somewhere else!!!

I understand. I have a garnisment, not knowing from whom and the frozen my acct, can't reach no one, but they can take your money and leave u with ZERO BALANCE and don't care if you can have shelter, food or how cruel is SECU. The CEO has plenty of funds i am guite sure....I hate SECU......

I think everyone knows that it takes time for a check to clear. That has been the standard for a very, very long time.

I think it is pretty high handed on your part to think that after depositing a check into the ATM that you didn't read your receipt since I know it says Available Balance and the day as to when your check will clear and the funds released.

This is your error and not the bank. Next time go inside and speak to a teller and tell them you need the funds immediately and don't assume you know everything.

Hyatt Scam or Unethical Employee?

I purchased 3 nights at the Hyatt Palm Springs checking in on May 23, 2013. This was to include breakfast and a tram ride for $119.00 per night. When we arrived we were told everything was taken care of and the only thing they needed was a credit card in case of incidentals. My friend gave his card. A month later my friend shows me his credit card bill of $554.04!!! When I called they told me "So sorry but we can't change the bill." Then I went to Corporate customer service and was told they couldn't do anything either. Really?!!??

Design of opening and closing clasp

I have heard from so many friends that have the bracelet but don't like the clasp design. You shouldn't have to ruin your nails everytime you take it off by pushing down in the center of the bead and you shouldn't have to buy a charm to remove your bracelet. The whole design is awkward. Takes me ten minutes to line it up trying to put it on also, and another 10 minutes getting it off. Common complaint, design flaw. I have said my complaint. Why does it have to be 100 words. Bla blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

Secu MD is incompetant

I applied for a refinance 6 months ago. I have excellent credit. My house is not underwater. I received several emails from my processor that everything was ok. Four months later I learned that my processor was fired and I would get another processor. The new processor said everything was ok and that I would close in a couple of weeks. After a couple of weeks the processor said she didn't know what was going on that the application was returned. Essentially I have to reapply again. No date for closing could be given. These people are incompetant. I have lost the interest I have paid while waiting for the application to be approved. Interest rates have gone up since I applied so I will now have to pay a higher interest rate.

I dislike secu's overdraft charges; since they are a s&l I believe the overdaft charge should be minimal. $30.00 is what commercial banks charge and s&l's are supposed to help their customers.

I would appreciate it if they would lower their o/d charges. I am a single person living on a fixed income and can't afford to pay such outragous o/d charges.

I resent it wholeheartedly. If they would give me o/d line I wouldn't have to pay these outragous o/d charges!!!

A credit union is not the same as an S&L. S&L's went under a very long time ago.

Overdraft fees are only charged when funds are not available to pay the check. The credit union will sometimes wave the fees as a courtesy if you work with them.

Secu's way or the highway

SECU is NOT the place to bank in my opinion. They close lines of credit and deny credit applications. My recommendation is: CLOSE ALL YOUR ACCOUNTS!! Move your money to another Credit Union that really appreciates your business by maintaining your credit line and approving your credit application. SECU is NOT the place to bank in my opinion. Goodman unit

I purchased this unit on 7/26/2010 and I have a ten year warranty since I have purchased this unit I had the contact replaced after one year and the following year I had the conveying core replaced after two years and before that something else went wrong in the summer and which was very uncomfortable. Even though the unit is under warranty a ten year warranty I don't feel that I have to deal with occurring problems with a unit that is new. I understand that things aren't built like they used to be with quality I understand that things go wrong sometimes as well.

Secu cancelled my line of credit even though it was current

Despite paying my Visa and line of credit on time, my auto loan was paid ahead and mortgage paid within 10 days of due date most of time, never more than 15 days late (I am on fixed disability income), The bank closed my line of credit and cancelled my credit card. All these were SECU loans, my other loans and credit cards were being paid by credit debt management company that I joined through SECU

application.

The reason, I was a credit risk.

I put paying SECU first, in order to keep my emergency line of credit available, but instead of being noted as an on time payer I was condemned as if I were not.

Due to health reasons, I was forced to retire from a $65,000 yearly job, to a $2500 monthly income from my retirement account. This was not even taken into consideration, after being a State employee for the past 10 years.

Retired officer

I am a retired law enforcement officer with over twenty years state service. I put my life on the line every day I went into work and never thought that when i retired and wanted to get a car loan that I would be denied by secu due to late payments and to many companies checking my credit in the past three years. This sound like racial bias or possibly a computer make the decision. I thank this BullS__T. I thank every secu member who has been turn down from a loan should pull out of secu and find another bank to do business with. Pissed off Cop.

Continued salary withdrawl after loan paid

I recently paid off a car loan through SECU but automatic payroll deductions for the satisfied loan continued. I called SECU and was eventually told that of course the deductions would continue because I did not stop them! That's right. When I pointed out that never was I told that I had to take that action or imagined that I would have to, the SECU voice tried the double talk. When I called her on that, she grew quiet. Right. SECU gets to use your money AFTER you pay off the loan. They credit your mandatory share savings account with the funds! That way, I guess, SECU can use the money in overnight investments. If this isn't illegal it ought to be!

To me, it seems like every complaint against SECU is counteracted with a response in favor of SECU. Seems like SECU is responding to every complaint with names like ANONYMOUS!

Guest

They are a reputable credit union. I don't believe that they invest in anything illegal.

When I paid off my car loan, the FIRST thing I asked was about my payroll deduction. I was told if I didn't stop it, it would go into my savings.

I was fine with that and couldnt be happier THAT I'M SAVING MONEY. Why not take some responsibility that you didn't ask about it either and stop bullying the people that answer the phone.

Maryland State Employees Credit Union

The debit/checking account card practices here are deceitful. This bank will wait days for charges to post to your account and will post charges from the most expensive to the least in case you slip up and overdraft. Having recently graduated from college and trying to get on my feet, I received NSF fees for 2 charges less than $6! And these were the only overdrawn charges... After this happened twice, I removed my money and went to another bank. To add, a gas station placed a $100 hold on my account for getting $20 worth of gas and SECU charged my account fees even though this $100 charge never cleared. They reversed the fees, but this happened to me on a couple of occasions with rental cars, ect. Basically the bottom line is: BE CAREFUL if you join this bank!

state employees credit union of maryland does not state how it will notify its members of fee changes to its membership agreement and will surreptitiously change its terms without notice to its members and then steal its members money. its a sham.

Guest

SECU is notorious for charging NSF fees on holds. They did it to me ALL the time.

And the same with posting the charges from most expensive to least to get the most NSF fees out of you. I actually had to go in and show them my dated transaction receipts to get them to reverse SOME of the NSF fees. And usually it was because of the gas station holds too!

So they would charge the fees based on the hold even though once everything cleared, I was never even in the negative. :?

Guest

Hey old school,I have a better one for you.I am sure no one here is even close to having an large amount of MONEY RIGHT.Hey don"t PLAY.Number one you already knew you did not have have no dam money in the Bank right. Now JUST TELL ME WHY?In the ***,Would you withdraw from the BANK anyway. You know what i say.The BANK should charge you out of your ***.Yes they should make you pay.Where do you get off blaming someone else for your like of TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS.Just like me state this:"You CANNOT GET BLOOD FROM A TURNIP".

Guest

This is not a practice that ONLY SECU does. Every bank does this.

I've had accounts at SECU, Wells Fargo (Wachovia), BB&T, M&T(Provident Bank), PNC, and Bank of America and every single one of them will process the charges in order of highest to lowest, then slam you with negative fees. That's how banks make their money. Off people like you.

I suggest closing your bank account, hiding your money in *** in your backyard and getting a prepaid debit Visa. Seriously.

Guest

I had problems with this bank too. In the year 2010.

I've notice there were checks written and it was not my signature. I've report this to the local police. The bank wouldn't give any information to the police so they had close the case. It wasn't discovered until Bank Of American in the year 2011.

SECU never recovery the money that was stolen from my account.

It was over $6,000.00. I will not deal with this bank at all.

Guest

So all of you college business educated consumers, you are telling me, when you get $20 worth of gas, you not only write in your check book ledger that you made the purchase, but you also deduct $100 for that purchase, then add the $80 back to your account, when it balances out?? They don't teach you that in business class at fancy colleges, you just have more experience than everyone else.

Guest

Last I checked, I own a debit/checking card. If the money was not available, it should have declined!

Secondly, I'm not perfect.

Neither is Happy SECURITY member, CustomerSECU nor Educated Old School.

So if you've ever overdrafted your account by $3, you would want forgiveness too. Be careful when you throw bricks...

May God bless each of you.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-407997

Exactly. SECU changed their debit card procedures a few years ago so that you had to actually opt OUT of overdraft service.

So if you never saw their notice, they would just start to charge you overdraft fees instead of declining the purchase. If you had lost track of your balance, you would never be the wiser until you saw your account was in the negative and had racked up $30 NSF fees.

Guest

I think this fool was educated by the government? He or she wants to spend more than they make and expect others to be forgiving and allow them to continue with their deficit spending?

Guest

8) I'm in total agreement with "Old School" how about being responsible for a change.

SECUMD....this credit union does not participate in HAMP or shortsale they only foreclose.

MARYLAND STATE EMPLOYEE CREDIT UNION...do not participate in Home Affordable Modification Program, a government mortgage program or allows shortsale on any property if they are the investor.....they foreclose period. Maryland State is one of the states that is very difficult to foreclose yet their credit union donot support HAMP or shortsale.

The home owners that cannot pay the note on your 2nd lien mortgage, SECUMD will suit the home owners to collect on a second loan since they cannot foreclose due to decrease property value. SECUMD DONOT MODIFY MORTGAGE LOANS.

Is this an oversite by our law maker?

It is true SECU doesnt do short sales only foreclosure.

Actually, SECU participates in the HASP program, and they actually make it pretty painless. Apparently who you talked to didn't know what they were talking about.

There is all kinds of information on it on their website! Maybe you should check that out...
